When we first drove by this old gas station and store, we thought it was shut down. It wasn't. Open for business. Not much business, though. There are very few of these types of businesses left - except in more rural areas. This is a remnant of the past.I couldn't determine which photo I liked best, so I posted both of them.

You're right looks like an old closed gas station, like the ones you see in movies, on desolated highways! Both pics looks good, but I'm a B/W supporter, so... ;)
I am not a B&W fan, but you are right: both photos are beautiful, each in its own way. I can't decide which one I like more...
It makes a real difference to the atmosphere of the shot when you take the colour away... the top one to me is warm, lazy, relaxed...I'm imagining the distant sound of a radio playing country music and kids inside buying ice cream. The bottom one looks like something out of an old horror movie.
They are both cool but you know... pink... ;-) I've seen a couple of places like this one during my travels in the very rural parts of the Pacific Northwest, I even stopped at one. Way cool, they do everything for you, including wiping the windshield whereas elsewhere, you do the job... Life as it used to be...

My grandparents used to run a little gas station and store that looked a lot like this one when I was growing up.
I bet the owners used to wash your car windshield and check the air in the tires. Nice nostalgia.

They both convey a different story. Hard to pick one over the other.
The B&W looks like it could have been taken 50 years ago! Really reminds me of the place where I grew up - lots of old buildings still standing.
I'm partial to black & whites, but I like the color too!

I like them both but the color of the building is so neat and unusual, I'm glad you included it. When we travel, we take the road less traveled just to see these scenes.
I have to agree with most of the comments; it's very hard to decide which is best as they both are beautiful.
Why we love these old objects of the past? Is it a part of the warmth from our childhood?

Had I only see the black and white version it would have been impossible to guess the colors, bit I still prefer the B&W photo.
Jeez Louise, these photos are both so fine! I have to say that my fav is the color version. I can just imagine the stories those walls and those gas pumps could tell!
