Until Interstate 75 was built some years ago, State Road 441 was the main north-south route through Central Florida and ran right through the center of Ocala. This is a section of 441 near downtown and, as you can see, the main Ocala police station is located here in a commercial center.
The photo was taken recently with an old film camera and old film. I rather liked the effect.

When I was in college (more than a few years ago), another guy and I went to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area for spring break. I remember we drove on U.S. 27. Is that near you?
@ Memphis - Yes! In fact, at this point 27 and 441 are the same road. About a mile further north, 27 veers off west and north and 441 continues to Gainesville and beyond...27 runs south all the way to Miami.
interesting that the police station looks to be in a shopping center. Looks like a good place for them to find shoplifters.
Film? Oh yeah I remember that stuff. :-) Is that a restaurant under the billboard? What ever it is I would like a closer look. It looks kind of interesting from here.

I have a number of old film cameras. I really should dig one out and have some fun with it in the near future. I like how this photo looks.
Amazing to hear this was shot with an old film camera, on an old film. The effect does look interesting and the frame around the picture is beautifully done! I like the complete look of this photograph!

With the exception of a car accident, I did have a wonderful time! Weather gorgeous, Québec so beautiful, 1000 photos to sort through so you will have to wait a little. I miss North America already. And you're making it worse, showing me a typical road, a typical truck, and police (the Québec city policeman who came for the accident was very nice!)
Its still raining here. Almost nonstop since Thursday.
I used to drive that stretch many, many years ago on my way to and from the U.of F. I would never recognize it. There really was nothing in Ocala, then.

27 actually runs straight into the old Capitol building in downtown Tallahassee, makes a right turn and continues through downtown and on up past my house and into Georgia. I was noticing that billboard in your picture and the lawyer's last name--Fenderson--perfect for accident, injury, DUI/traffic "fender bender" cases!

@ Per Stromsjo - Actually, 441 is one of the busiest roads in Central Florida...pretty much jammed day and night. Can't imagine what it would be like today if they hadn't built the freeway!

@ James - re: the restaurant...or not...I can't remember. Could be. In this area, many buildings constantly morph into something else...a restaurant one day could be a muffler shop the next - or vice versa.

Re: the Buffs. Yes they are raised for meat. I am not much of a meat eater but I have had Buffalo meat and it is very tasty.. I do have some older shots of the buffs and the big bull is staring or should I say glaring right at me. MB
the effect was applied after you shot the photo, had the film processed, and digitalized it .. yes?
I like the look of the film photo, too. I'm really enjoying my Canon 35mm ebay find..so much so, I haven't ordered that digital yet! ;)

ahhh the police station..interesting effect.
You get to Lake Weir, by heading south on Hwy 441, until you hit Sunset Harbor Rd, in which you take a right. You'll hit Lake Weir directly on that road.

Looks like the area is still busy despite much of the traffic transferred to the interstate.
Film? Does anyone process it still? What happened to the edges? Can't really tell the difference between film and digital anymore - lovely photo.
The juxtaposition of the police station and the law firm billboard is striking. I suspect this was done on purpose. I like the way the photo turned out.
