An Ocala horse picture

For our anniversary, we decided to buy a new painting to hang in our living room. It should definitely be an "Ocala" painting, we thought. We looked everywhere. Found nothing we liked. Until we walked into Blocker's Furniture one afternoon. There it was! Perfect. I mean, you've got to have a horse painting if you live in Ocala! We packed it up, took it home, and it now proudly proclaims "Ocala, horse capital of the world" - right in our living room.

We didn't buy the cowboy. Sheesh. That would have been just too much!

Nikon D300, f/4, 1/30 sec, ISO 1400.

How about the fancy leather sofa?! Didn't you buy that, too? You can't just hang a horse painting on the wall without something over which to hang it??!

Did you think about framing a print of one of your photos of horses? Some of them are amazing.

Looks fantastic... perhaps a closer look?

Beautiful painting and a great choice. You've certainly shown us some magnificent horses as well as their living quarters. I think you chose well.

The cowboy is kinda creepy, don't ya think?

Very cool picture. Of course you just knew I'd have to say that. The cowboy looks like he is just going to walk on outa here. Adios!!

Happy anniversary!! MB

I am sure this painting will bring you joy and make your livingroom an even more hospitable place than it already is. Is it named "thundering hooves"?

Ooooh...nice! I would have bought this, too. I also have a leather couch like this, and for the moment, the wall behind it is empty...looking for a drill; we have cement walls. Cowboy's nice, too, and the overall photo is great.

I think the cowboy would have been the cherry on top. Nice painting, I have nothing on my walls except a nascar poster, how sad is that.

I thought the cowboy made a kind of interesting
tableau vivant. The painting is beautiful, Jacob. Happy anniversary.

And Before reading the commentary, I thought Lois took a shot of you posing. Happy Anniversary! Many, many more.

I guess this is the store's "living room" then. Happy anniversary. I like the piece very much, but I definitely agree about the cowboy!

Who is the little guy standing on your couch? Or is he a big guy standing in your enormous room?

Happy Anniversary! Very lovely and very Ocala appropriate! I kinda like the cowboy and I normally don't like the 'western' theme. Pretty cool.

AHA .. so this shot was taken in the furniture store ... I think I want that couch

Lowell said...

@ Don & Krise - Are you saying our Ocala cowboys are kind creepy? Heh. Heh. Actually, I think this is a Texas cowboy. He's related to Tom DeLay. Made in China, probably.

Lowell said...

@ Safe Leif - Whew. All you did was comment re: the sofa...I thought surely you'd say something about the south end of a horse going north!

Yeehaw! Ride 'em you Ocala cowboy!

It's a gorgeous painting, Jacob! Glad you didn't buy the cowboy although it perfectly fits on this shot. :-)

Wow! After reading what you wrote on my blog and doing a little math. You and Lois Ann have been married for over 50 yrs. That is really something. I do look forward to catching up over time.

Excellent choice. I would have bought that one myself. Now you must show us how it looks at your place!

Bergson said...

This statue represents you?

Lowell said...

@ Bergson...no, but it sort of represents what I wanted to be as a little kid. Of course, I also wanted to be a cop, a pilot, a private detective, etc. :-)

Lowell said...

@ James - Heading toward 53! Time, lots of love, forgiveness, acceptance, etc., will do it!

Happy, happy anniversary! Two great people . . . thanks for sharing the joy. I'm sure the horses look great in your living room. I am drooling over that couch. Agreed, the cowboy would be a bit much!

Yes, you got a horse painting, a big one! Now you lucky guys will certainly be accepted as Ocalans. Congrats! I wonder when you two will start breeding horses. (;
