U.S. Postal motor scooters

We're back at Ocala's main post office downtown. This is the first time I have seen these little postal scooters! Maybe they are test scooters to determine if this would be a less expensive way to deliver the mail - at least in some areas. The wouldn't be too much fun in the cold and rain, though. Whatever, I thought they were rather cute!

Jacob Meister! I've never seen postal scooters before your photo! But I bet you've never seen postal snowmobiles like we started to use last winter in Eagan. I'll have to take a photo of one for you to see!

Whoa!! Jacob, you need one of those for your "photomobile". All your equipment in the saddle bags just ready to spring out and snap whatever is going on. You could even get the leather jacket for added cool.

It kind of looks like an airport scene Jacob. A bit high-tech for a post office. Anything's got to beat the posties pounding the beat every day, although all that walking does keep them fit!

Cold and rain?! Here the guys still use bicycles in towns! I think it's a cool way!

Jake: Those scooters are cool. Let me know how you see them used.

Cold and rain? How many minutes in a year? I think the only real risk for these scoters are the gators roaming free everywhere...

they do look rather quaint

They look like they might be fun to putt around in. What rain--well you know the slogan--through snow, sleet etc. Well??? MB

I never saw something like that. They are so funny.

I think so too! And it looks like they can carry quite a lot!

These are cute, and definitely would work well in your area, where there's probably not a lot of cold and rain!

Cold? Does it get cold in Ocala? I'd love to see a postal carrier race with these little scooters. It would be the sort of thing we'd have on Main Street in Brattleboro.

Cute little scooters! Seems like everything is developing backwards, huh? Five year from now they'll probably use bicycles or even donkeys. But the most money saving method is customers would be collecting their mail on their own form the post office. (;

Cute and practical. Hope to see more of them. Just as an aside, do people still write letters anymore?

Hee! Those carts are cute. I'd be afraid our postal delivery person would get run over in one of those though!

I've never seen those before either Jacob. They are cute! In my mother's neighborhood in Jax Beach, the mailman still walks his route and the mailboxes are right at the front door.

At first sight, i thought you were back in The Villages and these were Postal Service golf carts. The mind plays tricks you know.

I wonder how it'll work. In my village we have community mailboxes so the mail person drives from major block of mailboxes to the the next. The countryside still gets mail delivered to the boxes at the end of their driveways though.
