Ascension Lutheran Church

Actually, this church sits on a small rise and is more attractive than the photo would suggest. It is, however, of a thoroughly modern design.

The sun shining on this building looks so warm and golden.

It is very modern but might make a person a little curious and then open the door and march right in. Hallelujah!! MB

With all these churches and religious people you'd think we'd have a kinder gentler world.

Jacob, this is funny: I was going to post an Ascension church today, but I had some trouble with the pictures so I postponed it...
Amazing building, I like the green all around, but it doesn't look much as a place of worship.

The heaviness of the building made me think of a small medieval Romanesque church - except for the golden color!

I like it! The sky is gorgeous too.

@ VP - Well, as the say, great minds run in the same ruts, or something like that. I've thought for a long time that you are truly a brilliant man and photographer and I know that's true 'cause you so often agree with me! :-)

@ Lee - Hmmm...not if you read history.

I guess it makes sense to be on a hill if you're ascending.

@ Halcyon - Very good!

I like the comment Halcyon made! The building is nice to look at although very modern. Funny, when I think of a church I always picture the old style.

It has a southern feel to it, maybe it's the color--nice to see, Jacob!

Ah yes... very modern. You would need to show me the inside for me to appreciate a church that looks slightly like a shopping mall.

Lately, religion has certainly been to the fore on the blog. Written messages all over a caravan got my attention, a curious object to have moreso with a wide range of subjects and comment from all over. Must keep that in mind, but under control for we just got a small bus to 'take to the road' one day!

They're the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America? I'm just a plain old Episcoplian. Maybe. You're on a roll with the religion theme.

I may be totally wrong on this but I'm thinking Lutherans are more apt to have more modern churches, especially in Florida. I'm no authority but did attend one and those were more contemporary. Maybe it's a FLorida THANG Jacob!!

I feel right at home with this church although I do prefer the urban, traditional architecture ELCA churches to the suburban modern "shopping mall" ones! Do they have lutefisk suppers and potlucks there?

@ Virginia - Well, y'all might jest be right! But, some older Lutheran churches in Florida are quite traditional...newer ones, not so much; more contemporary.
