On the road for Jesus

We discovered this traveling "evangelist" in the Walmart parking lot. Note the New York license plates.

We get all kinds in Florida when the weather cools up north!

I've never seen itinerant evangelists before, and definitely never with a trailer! Great capture, Jacob.

These people are true holy rollers!

I saw www.hushmoney.org in one of the photos, so I looked it up. There really is such a web site!

I could not understand it, maybe it's a kind of pilgrimage?( I don't know if it's the correct word in English but you understand me, don't you?)

Keep an eye on this guy. He just may become the shepherd of the newest mega church. Those New Yorkers.

LOL !!! I never really thought about all of that. We just know the "eccentric" are not around when the weather cools. It is kinda like migrating birds.... unless you really think about it.... you don;t know where they go.... you just know they are not here.

This one made me laugh !!!

A few questions:
1. Did you get a job as a greeter at Wal-Mart?
2. Did you ask for a ride in the camper?
3. Did you try to covert him or did he try to covert you?
Reverent regards from Allison and Leif:)

Lowell said...

@ Allison:

1. No, they said I was too grumpy from being berated by Minnesotans.
2. Are you kidding?
3. I never "covert" anything or anybody, nor do I "covert" to anything or anybody.
4. Now, I know you're kidding. Neither of thyselves are in the least reverent. Is reverent the stuff they put in champagne to make it effervescent?

Pious platitudes from Jacob and Lois Anne.

@ Leia - No, it's not a "pilgrimage" as you would understand that word. It's just one of the thousands of religious freaks we have in this country who are probably afflicted with mental problems.

Lowell said...

@ Lee - Funny!

Kind of a church on wheels. I can't imagine that would survive too long in New York. I have to say, we get more than our share of 'wierdos' down here. They are already flooding the town. It's getting harder to take with each passing year.

I'll bet you thought my Drive By Preacher was driving that! BTW, he was in from of Wal Mart and Sam's CLub!! :)

I like the Holy roller comment. MB

Well, the trailer certainly is colorful, but I think I would stay well on the other side of the street if I saw him coming down the road! (Actually I met a man in New Zealand who was pulling a trailer decorated with similar thoughts - but he was riding a bicycle and the trailer was quite small!)

I've never seen anything of the kind. Too much for me! I'm not sure I would like to meet these people! :-)

It's too bad they can't stop this type of vehicle from crossing the state line at those Florida Welcome Stations. Maybe if they didn't give out the free orange juice, or do they still do that?

Allison said...

@Jacob...Funny how I wrote "covert" twice, huh? I wish they would make a computer that typed what I mean and not what I type. That would make a "convert" out of me...BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Hmmm, all the writing on the camper is very strange, looks extremely tacky, whatever good they're trying to get across to people.

Never saw anything like that in NY--and glad of it!

Cool capture, though!!

lol @ Bergson. I'll steer clear of this one if you don't mind too much.

Lowell said...

@ Allison - My computer has the same proglem.

First think I noticed was the NY plates.....Yankees...

EG CameraGirl said...

I wonder if the driver of the camper realizes the kind of bad impression he creates for his cause.

Leif Hagen said...

Wow, Jacob Meister! A way popular posting today - lots of comments and fun at that disciple's expense!

Follow-up question - were you shopping for a plastic Christmas tree at Walmart?

Lowell said...

@ Leif - disciple of nonsense! And we already have our plastic Xmas tree.

Pat said...

Well, there's no chance they're not getting their message across. 'Subtle' is not in their dictionary!

Notice that the graffiti-covered contraption is being pulled by a Lincoln Town Car, an older model but a Lincoln. I guess if your home on wheels looks like this one on the OUTSIDE, your car must have a few luxury accoutrements:

Like a bobble-head Jesus on the dash and flip down bible from the visor?

What did the magnetic sign on the car door say?

(I just know you're NOT a Walmart greeter but instead directing parking lot traffic?)

PJ said...

I knew as soon as I saw this it would be in the Walmart parking lot. I'm sure they passed through Pensacola on their way down to see you.

Holy moly, what a tagged camper! Being an "evangelist" must be pretty frustrating.
