The other morning, while on her usual 4-mile run, Lois and I ran into our mailman delivering mail in a nearby neighborhood. He faithfully delivers the mail and often goes out of his way in order to do his job well. For example, if a package does not fit into the box, he carries it to the front door!
He is one who makes a difference!

That IS very unusual that the mailman would actually go through the trouble of getting out of his mail truck & walk to the door - Not many would do all that! Definitely one who makes a difference!

Congratulations to the both of you. I am never, ever surprised when you receive an award. You blogs are among my very favorite to follow. The photography is great and your writing is just as good. (It must be that I recognize Jacob's sense of humor from somewhere. Hmmm.)
Our Mail deliverers drive their own cars to deliver the mail. It is funny (peculiar not haha) to see them sitting on the right side but the steering wheel is on the left. She makes a difference out here too.

It's admirable that a mailman does this nowadays, but I remember when most of them DID do that, without a second thought. There was nothing more exciting for me as a kid than to see the mailman 'coming up the walk'!

My goodness, not sure I could walk 4 miles, let alone run! That's awesome, Lois! Mail carriers don't get enough love.
Funny, our mailman, Lee, drives the same truck!
He's a good little helper, that Lee. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor hundreds of miles will keep him from delivering the mail!
The mail delivery people are a blessing. I hope they stay around for a long time to come.
We ride our bikes 5 miles a day, but that's not at all the same as running 4 miles. Half the time we coast! Congrats on being in such good shape Lois, and congrats on another award too.
Yes the hard working mail carriers are deserving of an award. In town here, they are mostly on foot, but further out they drive their own cars - fitted out with right-hand drive. Learning to drive on the right must be useful when they travel to other countries that use RHD!

That is so nice to recognize your mailman. We have had the same man for 20 years and he's like family. I visited Tricia at Bluff Area Daily and enjoyed her photography. Her reasons for naming you as a person who made a difference rings true for so many of us in the blogosphere.
Now I think I'll go greet our mailman and thank him for his exceptional service.

@ Allison - In Minnesota, mail persons should be outfitted with heavy duty inner- and outer- wear and should be given hazardous duty pay!
A good letter carrier does make a difference! Ours always has a friendly smile at the ready.
@ Brattcat - I've tried to run without success...did a couple of 5K's and they damn near killed me...legs won't stand for it...
So, I ride alongside on my bike, "coaching" her...heh, heh.

When I was between jobs about 10 years ago, I delivered mail as a sub. As I remember, they are required to take it to your front door. They then have to ring the doorbell, wait and ring at least once more. Then they can leave. Now, it's different if it's certified, then you need a signature and can't just leave it.
