The Waterfront Inn is a rather special place in The Villages. Positioned along Lake Sumter, it offers an elegant hotel experience. Persons from all over the world stay here while checking out The Villages. Other guests are local - friends or relatives of current residents of The Villages.
The infamous sinking ship has been positioned in the waters in front of The Waterfront Inn for a number of years. During that time, it gradually deteriorated to the point where it really began to sink. Check our the black and white photo and you will see what I mean. That's when the powers-that-be stepped in and did whatever was necessary to keep it afloat.
The rusty old bucket, a shrimp boat, I believe, has become iconic. I'm guessing several million photos have been taken of it by residents and visitors alike. Heck, I've got about one million myself!

The hotel looks really nice! We plan to spend some time in Arizona this year. Maybe we'll be back in Florida in 2018 and will consider the Villages. ;-)
The rusted ship is a great photo opp, I love it.
Today's post makes me want to spend a few weeks in Florida.
What a beautiful place, Lowell! Spectacular views, too! Looks like my kind of place. Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.
Quite a posh place!
Interesting big inn. Of course I would have a plethora images of the rusting old boat.

I do like that rusty boat!!!
It's hard to believe that Florida was having such nasty weather just a while back. The Villages, at least, looks placid and lovely.
Fine series on this posh Inn. Especially like your b&w shot of the sinking boat. Sinking boats look best in b&w.
A old boat very beautiful
Com uma bela localização.
Um abraço e boa semana.

What a wonderful place, Lowell !
This looks like a great spot to spend some time, Lowell!
Looks fancy! The views must be spectacular too.
A very attractive place. I like your first photo!
I would totally want to go on the abandoned boat... but I'd probably get tetanus.
That inn is very attractive. It looks like a nice place to stay. However, that rusty ship takes the prize. I'd love to photograph it from all different angles.
Ha, great with the old iconic ship.
Kind of humorous to think about what the ship's owner was thinking as he abandoned it.
That's definitely a photo op there.... love it. When we stayed on the Texas Gulf Coast we saw people going shrimping in boats that were just a shade less rusty -- we couldn't believe it!
This is definitely where I'm checking in if ever I come over Lowell 😀 what a wonderfully romantic looking building, and in such a super spot. I bet it is so elegant inside too. The rusty old ship adds a certain charm to the scene ☺
Lovely photos. The color-photo and the B/W-photo are great, I like both. And the last image is wonderful. You have there a real summer, I see. We have raining and raining all the time.
Dear Lowell - Such a beautiful inn and it looks like a good place to relax and enjoy oneself. I like to stay at a room overlooking the sea. There must be a story behind the abandoned ship.
